An Earthly Paradise popularizing on the concept of Eco-Friendly Hill station by preserving its natural beauty and one of the Quietest Hill Station with a scenic view of mountain ranges and snow-capped peaks, it’s a small Cantonment Town located in Pauri Garhwal District, Uttarakhand, India only at a distance of 47 km. approx from Kotdwar City, also known as “Home of Garhwal Rifles”
My Self Vehicle Drive from Lucknow to Lansdowne was a trip that is unforgettable and was full of adventure. It took around 12-13 hrs for which we started early morning and being at the place gave a different experience altogether as the place is totally a nature lover’s place full of peace and amazing views. Being a Garhwal cantonment area, the place is very much clean and maintained.
Lansdowne, this place offers many tourist attractions like- BhullaTal Lake where Boating and spending time sitting around the lake gives a different experience of life.
Tip N Top Viewpoint, another tourist place, also a Picnic spot which makes the visitors have a spectacular view of mountain ranges, St. Mary’s Church the only Working Roman Catholic Church away approx. 2 km from Lansdowne city and various other attractions include Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple- the most visited Temple, Santoshi Mata Temple, Regimental Museum, etc.
Two days’ stay at Lansdowne made us further move to explore a fully non-commercialized place known as Mahabgarh, approx. 65 km. further drive upwards and an altitude of approx. 1670 mts. above sea level. where a famous “Lord Shiva” Temple known as “Mahabgarh Mahadev”. It’s located on PINPOINT HILL with a VERY steep climb approx. 200 stairs. The location provides a scenic view of the Great Himalayas and on another side of Haridwar city.
Night stay in Mahabgarh, we had a lifetime scenic beauty of Beautiful Sunrise by around 5.30 am of which we had a view of the same from between the mountains. It’s difficult to describe in words, just tried to capture it and the feeling is still in memories only.
As it’s advisable that senior citizens or others having climbing problems should not go as accommodation options is very minimal and also the available option for stay, there is a steep climb of around 400 mts. (pakhdandi or kaccha rasta) for which the vehicle is to be parked away from the rooms.
As being on a short visit many things are left to explore still which will take me again to this beautiful place…
