Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Tuesday dismissed the detention of Dr Kafil Khan under the National Security Act (NSA), disregarding the Allahabad High Court’s directive and hoped that the Uttar Pradesh government would immediately send him “without any malice” K “will release.
The Allahabad High Court has ordered the immediate release of Kafeel Khan, who has been in jail since January, following a speech given during the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) protests at Aligarh Muslim University in December.
Priyanka Gandhi said in a tweet, “The Allahabad High Court today ordered the removal of the NSA and the immediate release of Dr. Kafil Khan.”
He said that it is hoped that the UP government, Dr. Kafil Khan will release Khan without any malice.
The Congress leader said that he also congratulated all the “justice loving people” and party workers of the state, who were striving for the release of Kafil Khan.
The bench of the Allahabad High Court gave the order on the plea of Kafil Khan’s mother Nuzhat Parveen, a bench of Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Soumitra Dayal Singh.
The petition alleged that Khan was granted bail by a competent court in February and was to be released on bail. However, he was not released for four days and the NSA subsequently filed against him. Therefore, his detention was illegal, the petition argued.
