The virtual launch event will feature Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan and Chief Ministers of Maharashtra, West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh – Uddhav Thackeray, Mamta Banerjee and Yogi Adityanath respectively.
Three high throughput testing facilities have been strategically set up at ICMR institutes – National Institute of Cancer Prevention and Research in Noida, National Institute for Research in Reproductive Health in Mumbai and Enteric Disease at National Institute of Kalra and Kolkata.
A statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said that they would be able to test more than 10,000 samples in a day.
These laboratories will reduce the turnaround time and exposure of laboratory personnel to infectious diagnostic materials.
The laboratories will be able to test for diseases other than COVID-19 and post epidemics, will be able to test for Hepatitis B and C, HIV, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Cytomegalovirus, Chlamydia, Neisseria and Dengue, the statement said .
