Actor Riya Chakraborty’s brother Shovik and Sushant Singh Rajput’s house manager Samuel Miranda were arrested on Friday after interrogation by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), which investigated allegations of drug abuse following Rajput’s death in June Has been doing.
Earlier in the day, an NCB team with police officers raided Shovik Chakraborty’s residence and Mr. Miranda’s house in the Santacruz (West) area of Mumbai’s suburban Andheri (West) area from 6:30 am.
The search teams included some female officers and were seen wearing masks and gloves and using multiple vehicles.
NCB Deputy Director (Operations) KPS Malhotra, who is heading the agency’s investigation team, was seen leading the search and told reporters that the homes of Shoik and Miranda were being searched and that Is a “procedural” action. Shoik and Riya Chakraborty live in the same house.
Another senior official said that the agency is seeking to collect additional evidence through this action and some documents have been seized by the search teams.
He said that both Shoek and Miranda were summoned to be involved in the investigation during the search.
He was taken in by the NCB search team and questioned at the agency’s office in the Ballard estate area.
The NCB has, so far, arrested two alleged drug dealers operating in the capital city of Maharashtra in this case and detained one person.
The two arrested are 21-year-old Zaid Vilatra and Abdel Basit Parihar while Kaizan Ibrahim is being interrogated since Thursday.
Parihar is revealed to have a “link” in the narcotics case against Riya Chakraborty, the girlfriend of 28-year-old Sushant Singh and others.
Parihar is linked to a man who in turn was allegedly appearing in a chat recovered from Riya and Shoic’s mobile phone, officials have said.
Riya has been accused in the case of the death of the 34-year-old actor, who is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on charges of money laundering.
The agency is investigating the drug angle in the case, which was later shared by the ED under the Criminal Sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cloning of Riya’s two mobile phones following a report Was recorded.
NCB has said that it is looking into the “drug stronghold in Mumbai and especially Bollywood” in this case.
According to officials, mobile phone chats and messages indicated the purchase, transportation and consumption of drugs and these leads were shared by the ED with the NCB and CBI.
The NCB is also believed to have obtained phone records of other accused in the case.
